-Thank you from the WCSD for $500 donation to support the Fine Arts Festival

-Thank you from Kristen Broda, Fine Arts Festival Coordinator for donation in support of Fine Arts Festival.

-SB 246 passed Ohio Senate

-HB 200 voucher bill opposed by OEA

-HB 540 OTES Reform

-HB 87 recover lost funds to charter schools passed House

-HB 21 residency for charter schools passed House, waiting on Senate

-HB 591 report card reform bill-State School Board supporting

 

  1. Organizing Committee Report
  • currently have 1 person per site able to meet/looking for more people to build communication lines within buildings
  • 3 activities for next year:
  1. a) Food Truck Fiesta-Convocation Day food trucks from 7am-1pm (no payment to vendors)
  2. b) Chili Cookoff with Santa- in conjunction with Wooster PD and Fire Dept. with WEA Santa
  3. c) Cash Mob with local businesses-once monthly email to let people know what business to visit: Robin suggested having business display signs in support of WEA

-Feb. Bargaining issue sharing meetings might include food

-Need people to show up for bargaining walk ins

-WEA Constitution and Bylaw Review – Matt Balsinger-First Reading of Proposed Changes, 2nd reading to occur at Sept. WEA Exec. Prior to vote at Sept. General Assembly

-2018/2019 Budget Draft #1 – Karen Linch- First Reading of Proposed Budget, 2nd reading to occur at Sept. WEA Exec. Prior to vote at Sept. General Assembly

 

2018/2019 Membership Committee-need someone in each building in charge of membership forms

-ECOEA Summer Leadership Workshop – July 16, 2018-Scott and Robin will be presenting on “The Wins and Losses of Bargaining”
